Course Level Description
This course will examine the growing body of law+both domestic andtransnational+concerning the regulation of reproductive healthcare,including contraception, abortion, and assisted reproductivetechnologies. It will explore the limitations imposed on governments+ability to regulate reproductive healthcare by the U.S. Constitution,foreign constitutions, and international human rights treaties, as wellas positive obligations imposed by those instruments to ensure access toservices. Special attention will be given to comparative analysis ofrationales for the protection of reproductive rights.Students will complete several short reaction papers during the semester and there will be a takehome final exam.
